The Confederation
The St. Aloysius Community
College is a confederation of three community colleges, College Campus,
Satyalayam Mahila Jagriti Kendra and Jogni Gramin Swarozgar Kendra.
As a measure of serving the
society further St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur has taken the initiative to
start this project for the underprivileged who are not able to gain life
supporting skills due lack of resources or proper direction. Another factor
is that the formal system of education does not allow the technically
talented but academically weak student to pursue any vocational course. The
project aims at helping this section of the society in learning practical
skills of work and life to make them self-dependent.
Project Highlights
1. The system does not
require any formal basic education for admission.
2. The curriculum not only
equips them for a career, but also helps them to gain skills, which help
them face all the different situations in their personal life.
3. The system is
scientifically designed in a way that ensures through understanding of the
subjects learnt.
4. The biggest advantage of
this system over the formal system is that it involves local community into
its working, thereby creating employability.
The students are admitted in the month of July with the help of newspapers
Ads, Pamphlets, Notices, etc. Thereafter they are taught the desired course
for almost ten months. In the last two months the students are required to
work with a prospective industrial partner in order to gain practical
experience of the career opted. Finally when the Industrial is satisfied he
certifies the student performance, which makes the student eligible for the
final certificate.
