To monitor quality sustenance as per UGC laid parameters and to take
proactive steps to strengthen all academic/nonacademic pursuits St. Aloysius
College, Jabalpur went in through the rigours of NAAC Re-accreditation from
18th – 20th April 2011. This Peer Team comprised of
veterans from the academic world – Prof. Bhoomittra Dev as Chairman, Prof.
M.D.P. Rao as coordinator and Prof. Harish Kumar as member. On the first
day, upon arriving the distinguished team was given a Guard of Honour by the
NCC cadets which was followed by the Principal’s presentation. Thereafter,
the team visited the departments under the science faculty and carefully
scrutinized the work being done. After a luncheon meeting with the Governing
Body Members the inspection committee visited the Data Centre, Reading Room,
Digital Library, Internet Centre, Central Library and the College office. In
the last leg of the day’s schedule, the members conversed with a cross
section of students, parents and alumni. Day one ended with a dinner with
alumni members and invited elites of the city. The major activities of the
next day centred around visits of Arts, Commerce faculty and Education
department and a walk through a creative corner exhibition which displayed
the outstanding CCE’s of the college . Thereafter, there was an evaluation
work being done under clubs and societies and inspection of the college
support services. The team members also spent time with the group of deaf
and dumb children who comprise the Friendship Club and the fifteen selected
students who are enrolled on Global Understanding from East- Carolina
University. As the day melted into a soft evening, moods changed: the
talented students of the college presented a bouquet of cultural programmes-
a fusion of the best of Indian and Western song and music. The first half
the third and last day comprised of meetings with IQAC members and checking
documentary evidence. In the afternoon, there was an Exit meeting in which
the chairperson addressed the Aloysian fraternity and lauded the hard work
and team spirit which had impressed the team throughout their visit. The
gathering was also addressed by the Principal, Dr. Father Davis George. The
team left Jabalpur as per their schedule. This momentous visit was followed
by a comprehensive expression of gratitude by the Head of the Institution
and three days of introspection, self analysis and sharing of experiences
and lessons learnt by all the faculty members.
