I am deeply honoured to inform you that St. Aloysius College was in the
National limelight in 2001 when it was bestowed two National Awards among
all the Christian Colleges in the country. On 16 August 2001, the College
was conferred the Dr. P. S. Job Memorial Award for Innovative Educational
Programs for the year 2001. This award was a mark of AIACHE’s (All India
Association for Christian Higher Education) recognition of the innovative
educational program: "Sunrise for the Underprivileged". The Xavier Board of
Higher Education in India bestowed Sr. Hedwige Annual Award- 2001, on St.
Aloysius College, for conducting sustained programs for the spiritual
welfare of the students and human value formation of teachers and students. |

In 2002 the college introduced two vocational subjects, Computer Maintenance
and Biochemistry and established two well-furnished labs for the same. In
the same year we introduced the Computer Science at the Post-Graduate level.
In 2003 we introduced the Commerce faculty with two vocational subject
combinations, i.e., Tax Procedure and Practice and Computer Application. In
the same year the college introduced NCC platoon for Senior Wing girls. The
Principal Dr. Fr. Davis George received Rev. Fr. T.A. Mathias Award for
Innovative College Principals for the year 2003. Many Staff members also
have received numerous awards for their professional competence and
community service.
In the year 2004 the college was in the International limelight when it was
bestowed with "Sir John Templeton Award" from "Local Societies Initiative
Metanexus University USA for dialogue between Science and Religion. In 2004
the College introduced Biotechnology at the Under-Graduate level and
Microbiology at the Post-Graduate level. In the same year another milestone
was achieved by starting the Faculty of Education in the college. In 2004
the New College Extension Building having a reading room, Internet centre,
conference room, microbiology and biotechnology laboratories were dedicated
to the service of humankind.
Our students have also shown their prowess in sports and games, NCC, NSS,
cultural and other activities and brought laurels to the college. We are
proud to say that we have students who have kept the flag of St. Aloysius
College flying high both at the national and international levels. St.
Aloysius College enjoys a long history of toil and achievements, ups and
downs, in its journey from a meager beginning to a meaningful present and a
hopeful future, striving from strength to strength, undeterred by hardships
and obstacles, ever abiding by its motto ‘Virtus in Arduo’ i.e., ‘Strength
Through Hardship’.
